OK Here's the plan. Meet at the Patterson Ponderosa at 11:00 AM. for early lunch and a short meeting (if needed). We will provide chicken wings (medium) hot on request, baked beans and coleslaw. If you want something else bring it, and we'll grill it. You can also bring drinks, desserts, etc. After that we will make a run up Rt.8 to the Parkway and then visit Villa Appalaccia Winery. Then back down Rt.8 for a second run if interested. Then we will run Rt.40 (lots of twisties near Woolwine if I remember correctly) to Rocky Mt. and dinner at IPPY's (if interested). Our home is 4 miles west on Rt.58 from the Martinsville Bypass. We will post directions nearer the date. Darryl, Beverly and Cousin Tom IP: 208.33.155.160 |

Thanks for the info John. I think it will be best if we skip Villa Appalaccia this trip. We will still be in the area if you would like to try to catch us at Tuggle's Gap Resturant around 2:00. We will work on plan B.------------------ Darryl & Beverly Patterson IP: 65.41.107.68 |

Many Thanks to Beverly and Darryl for their hospitality Saturday at their beautiful cabin. The wings and appetizer were great. (I still can't remember how to say the appetizer's name.) Really enjoyed the drive and Villa Appalaccia. By the way, they will be in Danville for the Wine Festival at the Dan (The Crossing) Saturday June 28 along with eleven other wineries if you want some more of their wine Tom. I saw something after I left y'all at the winery I had never seen in the wild before. A huge black bear was running across the field just down the road from the winery. Glad I was in the Miata 'cause he was moving fast. What a beautiful day it was to be out and about. Thanks again.robert clifton IP: 205.161.153.57 |

We would like to thank everyone for coming out Saturday, even if some were late. Someone's Miata broke down on their way(first we have ever heard of)but it was great to see everyone. Jonathan have you found out what the problem was? Also to John we are sorry we missed you. We made Tuggle's Gap around 3:00. Three Miata's decided to try Villa Appalaccia anyway and we enjoyed our visit. We are working on another run maybe this fall. Thanks again for everyone coming out,we really enjoyed it. ------------------ Darryl & Beverly Patterson IP: 65.41.111.42 |

Thanks, Beverly and Darryl, for hosting the event. I enjoyed the part that I was able to attend. Nice cabin! Sorry for being late…For those unable to be there, we had 6 cars (7 if we count mine, but it didn’t quite make the entire trip--see below), and these are the people who attended the event:
- Danville: Robert Clifton
- Danville: Tom Elliott
- Danville: Gary Morefield
- Danville: Tammy Morefield
- Lynchburg: Heath Steadman
- Martinsville: Darryl Patterson
- Martinsville: Beverly Patterson
- Roanoke: Roger Huffman
- Roanoke: Jonathan Shewbridge
On the way to the Patterson Ponderosa, my “check engine” light came on, and the car eventually broke down along the road. Many thanks to Roger Huffman, who helped me get the car towed to the Bassett Mazda dealership. Then Roger let me "hitch a ride" to the Pattersons and back to Roanoke. This was the first time I’ve ever had to have any car towed, and I certainly was surprised that the “corpse” was a Miata. The dealership had the car until today, but they were not able to locate the problem. My Dad has a friend who towed the car home for me today. I posted details of the problem on miata.net, and several people have made suggestions about finding a solution. It looks like my little red toy is sidetracked for the time being… Wish me luck in getting the car fixed.
