BMW sticks to
a voluntary 100hp limit on their Motorcycles, which complies to
the laws in Germany. With the K1200RS however, they cast those limits
aside, increasing engine size to 1171cc, and claiming 130bhp. It
was the first Beemer to come with RAM air induction, a cast aluminum
frame and a six speed gearbox. With its paralever rear suspension,
and telelever front, and
with adjustable riding position, the Beemer could suit many shapes
and sizes.
Power in 1998
was 130hp @ 8750rpm, with torque of 86 ft. lbs. @ 6750 rpm. Wet
weight is 628 lbs.
